Frequently Asked Questions - Surrogates

How Long Does it Take to Get Matched?

This depends a lot upon how quickly you complete your required steps so that SurroStork can make your profile available to our agency partners for matching. We highly recommend that you make an appointment for a new pap smear (if needed; if your last was abnormal or more than 24 months ago) and OB clearance as soon as possible, as doctor's offices often book out weeks in advance and will normally prioritize pregnant patients. We can help you find a women's clinic to get a pap smear faster, if necessary. We normally obtain full medical records within a couple of weeks of requesting. The rest of the steps can be completed as quickly as you can schedule with our team! Once you're ready, the matching time should not be long at all. Many agencies currently have long waitlists of intended parents needing surrogates, so as long as you fit someone's requirements, you will not have a problem matching quickly.

Is the Process Any Different From Applying to One Agency?

When applying to SurroStork, the pre-screening phase of your journey should be a lot smoother and faster, because this is all we do! SurroStork's entire program is focused on educating and preparing surrogates for match so that they can be as ready as possible when being transferred to their matching agency. Of course, you have many more matching options by having your profile available to view across all of our partner agencies. As far as the steps in your journey after you leave our care, they will be much the same: Medical Screening (in-person), Legal Contracts/Clearance, Medication Cycle, Embryo Transfer, Pregnancy, Delivery, Postpartum Care.

What is the Advantage of Applying with SurroStork?

When you apply with us, you are not locked in to only working with one agency from the get go. We get you prepared, educated and complete all of the pre-screening steps needed to be ready for match, then present your profile to multiple agency trusted partners who will then match you with their intended parents looking for surrogates, and take over your care and case management for the rest of your journey. By helping you to complete all of the initial screening, and by making your profile available to multiple agencies, you have access to many more intended parents and have a better chance of not only a faster, but a BETTER overall match for your journey.

Do I Have the Right to Refuse a Match?

YES! If you don't think a match is right for you, then you are 100% welcome to turn down a match with no pressure. A surrogacy match has to be right not only for the intended parents, but for the surrogate as well. If you don't feel like a profile is a good fit for you, OR if after a match meeting you don't feel comfortable with proceeding, you can decline a match and we will make your profile available to all of our partner agencies once again.

How Does Compensation Work?

Overall compensation including the entire compensation package starts at $57,000 and goes up depending on whether you are an experienced carrier, or located in a high-demand state such as California. Experienced surrogates normally receive higher compensation because they have proven that they can be trusted to maintain a good relationship with their intended parents, follow medication protocols, respond well to hormonal medication, and achieve a pregnancy via embryo transfer. First-time surrogates are also in high demand, though, especially ones with great medical history! Your compensation will always be paid via a secure escrow account, so you never have to worry about not receiving payments.
